Cookie targeting

Enter an experiment only when a cookie your own site already sets has one of the values you list.

Cookie targeting reads a cookie your site already sets and admits the visitor only when its value is one of the ones you listed. It is how you reach segments Pertento has no opinion about: logged-in customers, a loyalty tier, a market, a feature flag your own platform already carries.

A rule is a cookie name plus a list of accepted values, one per line. Several values are common, because the segments people care about rarely map to a single string.

It is worth being precise about direction here. Pertento reads cookies for this rule; it does not set any. Variant assignment is kept in browser storage rather than in a cookie, and the tracker sets nothing, which is what lets the platform run without a consent banner of its own.

Like every other rule, cookie targeting is evaluated before assignment, so a visitor who does not match is never counted as part of the experiment.
