Pertento for Optimizely CMS

Running Pertento on a site built with Optimizely CMS, which is a different thing from Optimizely’s own experimentation product.

Optimizely CMS is a .NET content platform, and Pertento installs into its layout the way any script does: once, in the head, inherited by every page. Worth stating plainly, because the name invites the question. This is about running Pertento on a site built with Optimizely CMS. It is not an integration with Optimizely’s own experimentation product, and pointing two experimentation tools at the same traffic is a reliable way to get two answers and no way to tell which is right.

How it connects

  • Add the tag to the shared layout, as high in the head as the template allows.
  • Check that no second experimentation script is already assigning the same visitors.
  • Target by URL pattern so a change reaches every page built from a template.
