Share of visitors

Ask a percentage of the visitors who qualify, and keep each of them in or out for good.

1 to 100 per centDecided onceNo reshuffling

On a busy page, asking everybody who qualifies collects far more answers than you need and spends goodwill you do not have to spend. The share setting asks only a percentage of the visitors who pass every other rule.

Each visitor is decided once per survey and the decision is kept. Somebody who was left out on Monday is still left out on Friday, rather than being given a fresh chance on every page view until they are eventually asked.

Lowering the share later shrinks the same group rather than drawing a new one. Going from fifty per cent to twenty keeps a subset of the people who were already in, so nobody who was out is asked by chance because the number changed.

It is the last check before a survey shows, after pages, devices, the experiment link and frequency, so the percentage is a share of the people who would otherwise have been asked. At a hundred per cent nothing is drawn at all.
