Page and device targeting
Show a survey only on the pages and the devices where the question makes sense.
A question about checkout belongs on checkout. Page rules limit a survey to the addresses you choose: equals, starts with, contains, ends with, a regular expression, or the two negatives, not equals and does not contain. With no rules, a survey can show on every page of the website.
A page qualifies when it matches any one rule, so several positive rules add up: a blog rule and a pricing rule together cover both. A negative rule on its own is how you leave pages out, so a single "does not contain /account" asks everyone except people inside their account. Rules are checked against the full address, query string included, and a trailing slash is ignored.
Devices narrow it further to desktop, mobile or tablet, using the same device detection as experiment targeting and the exit-intent trigger, so a mobile survey and a mobile experiment agree about who is on a phone.
Targeting is checked in the visitor’s browser before a trigger is even set up, so a survey that does not apply to a page does no work on it. It can be changed at any time, including on a survey that is already collecting answers, and the change reaches the site at the next publish.
