Learnings and AI Credits

Learn what Learnings costs in AI credits, how the estimate for past tests works, what happens when credits run out, and the allowance for accounts without credits.

Learnings is opt-in, and it uses your account's AI credits. Nothing is spent until an Admin or Owner turns learnings on for a website.

What uses credits

  • Writing a learning for a finished test: roughly 15 to 25 credits a test, depending on the test. With Read screenshots on, a learning costs more.
  • Grouping and wording. From time to time Learnings regroups a website's themes and rewords the page's headline, patterns and opportunities. These use credits too.
  • Ask about your learnings. Each answer uses credits, like the other AI chats.

Credits come from the account of the company that owns the website, whoever turned learnings on or asked the question.

A learning is written once, and again only when what it describes changes, for example when the team edits the debrief. A routine update to the statistics does not rewrite it or spend credits on it.

These use no credits: the foundation check, the patterns and their ranges, the device filter, and similar past tests on drafts.

The estimate for past tests

Before you confirm Write learnings for N tests, Pertento shows an estimate. It starts at 50 credits a test and becomes the measured average once 20 learnings have been written, so the first estimate is usually higher than what you end up spending.

When credits run out

Learnings pauses: no new learnings are written, and the Library says why, for example that the account is out of credits or has used this month's allowance. Learnings resume on their own when credits return, after your plan's credits renew or you buy a credit pack. Ask cannot answer until then. Learnings already written stay readable.

Accounts not on AI credits

Invoiced and free accounts have monthly allowances instead, per calendar month (UTC):

  • 12,500 credits a month for writing, grouping and wording learnings;
  • Ask about your learnings shares the AI chats' allowance of 12,500 credits a month with Ask about this experiment and the editor's AI assistant.

Plan allowances and credit packs are explained in AI Credits and Credit Packs.
